Dronic Project

This website provides public information about the DRONIC project, Application of an unmanned surface vessel with ultrasonic, environmentally friendly system to (map and) control blue-green algae (Cyanobacteria)

Algae Control LG Sonic Dronic

Project Description

DRONIC addresses a real issue at European level that is the algae blooms resulting from coastal and inland water eutrophication as a direct consequence of intensive agriculture. It aims to develop a robotic system capable of autonomously detecting and disposing harmful algae using an ultrasonic tool on an Unmanned Surface Vehicle (USV). A Master USV is  used to analyse water quality, detect, localize and map algae blooms. The second USV, the  Slave USV, is then launched to neutralize the threat, under the control of the Master USV

DRONIC was initiated by LG Sound and funded by “FP7-ICT-2013-10 ”  within the EU 7th Framework Programme.
